The St Patrick’s Care Home project comprised an £8 million phased redevelopment for Halton Borough Council, combining a new-build extension with the refurbishment of the existing 56-bedroom facility. The scheme delivered 16 additional bedrooms and a full modernisation of the existing accommodation, completed within a live operational environment.
Works were carefully sequenced, beginning with the construction of the new-build extension to create decant space, followed by phased refurbishment of the existing wings. The project scope included new finishes, FF&E, accessibility improvements, and comprehensive decarbonisation measures—installation of air-source heat pumps, solar PVs, and an upgraded Building Management System (BMS). External works and utility upgrades were undertaken to support the low-carbon infrastructure and enhance site functionality.
The completed facility provides a modern, energy-efficient, and high-quality care environment that supports Halton Borough Council’s long-term sustainability and service objectives.
