The St Luke’s Care Home project involved a £5 million phased refurbishment of a 56-bedroom live facility for Halton Borough Council. Works were carefully sequenced to maintain full operational continuity, with one wing kept vacant at all times to safely accommodate residents and staff while refurbishment progressed wing by wing.
The scheme delivered a comprehensive upgrade of the building, including full internal refurbishment, new finishes, FF&E, and accessibility improvements. A strong focus was placed on decarbonisation, incorporating a new air-source heat pump system, solar PV installation, and a Building Management System (BMS) upgrade to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. External works included landscaping improvements and utility upgrades to support the new low-carbon infrastructure.
The completed project has extended the building’s life, reduced operational energy demand, and delivered a high-quality, sustainable care environment for residents
