Project Overview

The construction of a new 31 bed Young Oncology Unit and Haematology Transplant Unit at the Christie Hospital. Engaging at the initial design stage, procuring the design team and leading through to Practical Completion. This was a logistically difficult and patient sensitive build as it was constructed over the existing live HTU building which meant managing ongoing issues with noise and vibration. This new building brought the Christie negative pressure isolation rooms for severely immunosuppressed patients as well as a range of social spaces for long stay young adults.

Services and value added

  • Working in a live hospital environment in close proximity to immunosuppressed patients meant a robust H&S and logistic plan as well as an excellent communication and liaison strategy
  • Working closely with ex patients to develop first class patient centric designed spaces
  • Hands on approach, based on site full time to drive the programme through construction and lead a comprehensive handover process ensuring a high quality of installation
  • Full management of NEC3 Contract Option C.
