Inspiring the Next Generation: Hive Projects and Contractors Host Student Site Tour at £20m Marple Community Hub

In June, Hive Projects proudly joined our delivery partners, Willmott Dixon, to welcome the first cohort of local secondary school students to the Marple Community Hub site.

Connecting with local schools and demonstrating the tangible impact of the built environment is a core part of our social value commitment here at Hive. We believe that our work should always leave a positive legacy, and inspiring the next generation of industry professionals is a vital step in that journey.

Delivering the Marple Community Hub

We are currently delivering the £20m Marple Community Hub on behalf of Stockport Council. Scheduled for completion in Autumn 2026, this new facility will centralise community services under one roof. Once complete, the state-of-the-art hub will provide local residents with a five-lane swimming pool, a 60-station fitness suite, a new library, a café, and the relocated Marple Clinic.

Championing Skills and Education in the Region Supporting “Skills, Education & Development” is one of our foundational Social Value themes. During the visit, our Project Manager, Josh, and our Apprentice, Fatima, guided the site tour. They shared their personal experiences and discussed the incredibly varied career pathways available within the construction and built environment industry.

By comparing traditional project management degrees with dynamic apprenticeship routes, Josh and Fatima highlighted that there is no single “right” way to build a successful career. Investing in inclusive and alternative career routes is a major focus for us, ensuring there is diversity and inclusive options for everyone to be part of the built environment and develop their career in this sector.

Integrating Social Value Across All Programmes At Hive Projects, we have a continued ambition to improve societal outcomes. We are dedicated to integrating social value strategies across all our programmes of works. Bringing social value to all our projects means actively seeking opportunities to uplift communities, whether through supporting local supply chains, creating local jobs, or facilitating educational visits like this one.

A huge thank you to the students for their time and insightful questions, and to Willmott Dixon for collaborating with us to make these valuable school visits possible!
