Southport Hospital ED Refurbishment

PROJECT Overview

About the Project

This project involves the remodelling of part of the existing Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Department to facilitate the relocation of the Emergency Department (ED) waiting area, and provide additional rooms for initial assessment and triage. The scheme also includes the construction of a new extension to serve as the public ED entrance and reception area, along with a refresh of the SDEC waiting area that will afford the Physiotherapy Department with a new larger office.

These works both increase and improve the departmental capacity and efficiency through delivering a clinical layout with enhanced adjacencies and patient flow. The refurbishment of the former wider A&E area provides additional treatment rooms and ambulance bays.

The works are executed over multiple phases within the live environment. Regular engagement with staff and adopting a flexible approach towards phasing plans is paramount to securing the continuation of hospital services with minimal disruption.
