Project Overview

The scheme looks to repurpose the existing Spindles Shopping Centre into a multi-use space, made up of a new market, event space, offices and heritage archive collection.

£32 million new build and refurbishment of existing shopping centre to create new market hall and events space. Currently completing demolition of the former TJ Hughes building which will pave the way for a brand-new split-level Tommyfield Market which will be developed with retail stalls linking to the shopping mall and a dedicated food and drink area linking to Parliament Square. It will also include an event space above the new market, and a new archive centre. The regeneration of the Spindles Shopping centre is part of the wider town centre regeneration which looks to unlock brownfield sites for new homes and public open spaces.

  • JCT contract administration across enabling works and main contracts
  • Management of design team through to RIBA Stage 4
  • Management of 2-stage Design and Build procurement process on behalf of the Council
  • Engagement with key stakeholders within the Council to ensure a fit for purpose facility
